Spectator Docs

Spectator access is a controlled join role inside the player flow and stays read-only during live play.

01

Join with spectator role

(Requires the coach to have the Command tier) Spectator is not a separate app mode — it's a role you choose when joining a specific game:

  1. 1

    Choose Spectator during join

Discover a game or enter a session code (same as Player flow). In the join sheet, select Spectator instead of Player. Helper text: "Watch-only mode. Requires coach's Command tier."

  2. 2

    Wait for coach approval

Discover a game or enter a session code (same as Player flow). In the join sheet, select Spectator instead of Player. Helper text: "Watch-only mode. Requires coach's Command tier." The coach approves your join request. You enter the Spectator Live View instead of the player view.

  3. 3

Expect Command-tier gating and capacity limits

02

Follow the live feed and set delivery

The spectator view is a read-only game experience: Spectators can control how they receive pitch signals:

  1. 1

Read the live feed as a read-only view

On first entry, a brief banner appears: "You're watching as a spectator — You'll see all pitch calls in real-time." (auto-dismisses after 3 seconds). SPECTATOR badge with eye icon.

  2. 2

    Set delivery preference

A picker lets you choose where pitch signals appear: Default is Both. This preference is saved locally.

  3. 3

Use recent calls and inning state as reference

Connection indicator (same as player). Inning display (if preference enabled).

03

Leave and rejoin a session

Tap the menu button and select Leave Session.

  1. 1

Leave through the live session menu

Use Leave Session from the menu rather than force-closing the app so the session state stays predictable.

  2. 2

Rejoin from the same entry points

Discover a game or enter a session code (same as Player flow). In the join sheet, select Spectator instead of Player. Helper text: "Watch-only mode. Requires coach's Command tier." The coach approves your join request.

  3. 3

Expect role and capacity checks again
